New guards join the team!
What an absolute stunner of a day down at Tāhunanui Beach!
The beach was buzzing, with over 70 of our Nippers loving the morning waves at Junior Surf, Bravo Patrol group kicking off their first patrol of the season, and a surf lifeguard exam taking place!
Congratulations to the 18 new Surf Lifeguards from Rārangi and Nelson who passed their Surf Lifeguard Award today! Your hard work, dedication, and mahi over the past 6 weeks has truly paid off. Welcome to the club – we’re so proud of you! #initforlife
A massive thank you to our Examiners — Amy Phillips (SLSNZ Southern Region), Brendon Ferguson (Rārangi), and Stu Edens (Nelson) — for giving up their time to support, assess, and uplift our trainee guards. We’re incredibly grateful.
Days like today show just how much our community values what we do. With hundreds of people enjoying the beach, and our club growing in both numbers and capability, the need for a dedicated clubhouse has never been clearer. A space for our guards to train, store gear safely, and continue delivering life-saving services is vital as we keep up with our growing community.
Our club is going from strength to strength — and it’s all thanks to our awesome volunteers, supporters, and our wider community getting in behind us.
