Kyan Munnerley Competes at Oceans26

Big shout-out to Kyan Munnerley who competed in the U12's at Oceans26 (730 competitors u14-u11) representing Nelson this season after completing for Taylors Mistake last year in the U11's.

On Friday he competed in the surf race, finishing 2nd in his heat, 6th in his semi and 9th in the final (could have been 7th had he spotted the two other swimmers sprinting to the finish line behind him - great lesson learnt on finishing hard right through the finish line) - still an awesome result 9th in NZ in a very competitive field of 94 starters. Kyan also entered the mixed beach relay in a composite team with Taylors Mistake and South Brighton where they managed to finish 5th in their semi final, not quite making the final - there were 68 teams starting this event.

On Saturday Kyan competed in the run-swim-run and achieved a 6th place out of 100 athletes. An amazing performance in an intense event that includes heats, semis and final in quick succession. All done and dusted in about an hour or so, so very intense.

He also competed in beach flags and the Grand Cameron Relay (6-person mixed teams: 2xswimmers, 2xboard paddlers, 2xrunners) as a composite team with Taylors Mistake and South Brighton where they finished 15th out of 26 teams.

Great effort Kyan in a very strong field!
