Ever wanted to become a lifeguard?
Maybe you’ve always loved the water. Maybe you’re looking for a new challenge, keen to learn some practical lifesaving skills, or simply want to give something back to your community.
Whatever your age or stage of life, we’d love to meet you!
Nelson Surf Life Saving Club is looking for new people to join our team, and you don’t need any previous surf lifesaving experience. We’ll teach you the skills, from first aid and CPR to surf rescues and beach safety. And there’s so much more to get involved in, including surf sports, search and rescue, leadership opportunities and, best of all, becoming part of a pretty awesome bunch of people!
Come along to our Open Day on Sunday 1 November (10am)
Open day: From 10am
Surf Lifeguard Information Session: From 11am
Where: Tāhunanui Beach
Our upcoming Surf Lifeguard course is open to anyone aged 14+ who can swim 400m freestyle in under 9 minutes. Not quite up to the swim requirement? Come and talk to us anyway! There are other ways to get involved, and we’d love to help you explore your options.
Training takes place during November, with the final assessment on the weekend of 5–6 December (exact day to be confirmed). Full details will be shared at the information session.
No pressure, no commitment. Just come along, meet the team, ask a few questions and see whether surf lifesaving might be for you.
You might just find yourself part of something pretty special. We’d love to see you there!
