A huge milestone for our new Beach Base!
It's been a long time coming, but we're incredibly excited to share some big news!
After years of planning, fundraising and hard work behind the scenes, our new Surf Life Saving Beach Base at Tāhunanui Beach is finally becoming a reality!
We've reached a major funding milestone, allowing us to officially get construction underway, with local company Fitzgerald Construction Limited appointed to lead the build.
Site clearing has already begun, with further groundwork expected before Christmas. All going to plan, we hope to be in our new home by next summer.
We've now secured around 90% of the funding needed, but there's still a final push to fully fit out the building and complete the landscaping and dune rehabilitation.
A huge thank you to our foundation partners, Nelson City Council and Surf Life Saving New Zealand, along with the many charitable trusts, businesses and individuals who have helped us get this far. We couldn't have reached this point without you!
We still need your help to get across the finish line! Whether it's through a donation, sponsorship or our Buy a Brick campaign, every bit of support makes a difference.
A pretty special moment for everyone who's helped to make this happen.
