2026 AGM
Another year rolls around with the hosting of our annual AGM. This is an important day in the calendar when we celebrate our successes and set the direction for the year ahead. It is also where all officers resign and new ones are elected. We keep the door locked for the period between when resignation and rehire so no one can leave :).
All officers were re-elected with the exception of Aaron Lyttle (Operations Manager) who has been ably replaced by his understudy Sam Edens. This is great recognition of the work Aaron has done in supporting Sam into this role and the capabilities of Sam who we know will do well in his new role. Massive thanks to Aaron for all his hard work. We know you will continue to be involved with the club in supporting Sam to be successful and in many other ways..

I know I say this every year, but I really want to take a moment to thank everyone who has helped over the last season.
To all our Committee Officers, Sub-Coordinators, Coaches, Parent Helpers, and all our amazing Epic Lifeguards and a special thanks to everyone partners for helping us do what we LOVE — thank you for all the time, effort and dedication you have put in.
We couldn’t do what we do without all of you.
2025-2026
In the 2025-26 patrol season we had 93 active lifeguards, achieving 1838 volunteer hours within the groups.
That was made up of 21 Patrols, 12 Search and Rescue call outs and 25 events we life guarded at.
On the beach and in the water, we carried out preventative action that affected over 218 members of the public, 19 rescues, assisted 5 people to safety, 2 Searches, 7 Minor First Aids and 1 Major First aid.
Junior Surf has a had a great season with all the kids learning new skills on the beach.
The Senior Sport is also growing along side the IRB race teams.
All the new and old Lifeguards are all doing a epic job down the beach at all event guarding and are gaining more skills.
The SAR team as always doing what needs to be done, when its needs to be done. Thank you.
Building Update:
As you know a small team of us that’s made up of Fiona Hosie, Aaron Coe, Toni Charles, Steve Alloway have been working away behind the sense with our project management group Veros.
A big focus has been securing the support from the Community, NCC , Local Grants and also NZ Surf towards our New Club house. Support has been amazing and I am pleased to confirm that it has continued throughout the year and we are very close to an announcement on our new home.
I would like to take the opportunity to give current Committee member, Support Coordinators and all their families a massive thanks for all your hard work and time.
Also I would like to say a special thanks to my wife Fi for her ongoing support. I couldn’t do it without you.
It’s been humbling to be part of such epic Team.
