The Surf Life Saving Pool Champs training season runs from May to August, culminating in the National Pool Champs in Auckland. Competitions include the Tasman Pool Champs and the Southern Pool Champs in Dunedin. There are age groupings from under 10 years to Masters, with Nippers under 10 competing in the U12 age group.

High-octane IRB Racing has long been a favourite of Nelson Clubbies. Nelson teams travel nationally to compete in different rescue scenarios with IRBs. The dynamic competitions challenge participants with ever-changing surf and weather conditions.
